Peoples President Mike Huwar Chairs the 2023 Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night Walk
Bright Light to the Darkness Thursday, October 12.

Hundreds will gather at Pittsburgh’s Light The Night Walk on October 12, rallying to support people with blood cancer and their families.
Cancer affects millions of families in many ways. In what can be a daunting and painstaking journey, it can also bring people together. That’s what the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night walk in October is all about: celebrating, remembering and honoring those who are fighting and have fought blood cancer in its various forms.
This fall, Peoples again joins the cause, standing with our president, Mike Huwar, as he serves as the chair of this year’s event. We will walk to bring light to the darkness of cancer, raising funds for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s mission to support those currently in the fight of their lives, and fund research to aid in the battle against blood cancers.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s mission is to find innovative and supportive cures for patients. Dating back to 1949, LLS is the largest non-profit funder for research pertaining to all forms of blood cancer. Since 2017, they have advanced 70 percent of blood cancer treatment options approved by the FDA.
Like so many others, Peoples employees and their families have been impacted by blood cancers. Those personal experiences are what inspired our president, Mike Huwar, to serve as the chair of the 2023 Light the Night walk.
Whether you are a regular participant and supporter or new to the battle, we encourage you to join us and many others on the North Shore outside Acrisure Stadium and the Peoples Center on Thursday, October 12 for this year’s walk. Together, we can honor and advance the efforts of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as well as individuals and families affected by these daunting diseases.
